Italy Inside

Verona, June 2007

I like catching people in their own “habitat” I know it sounds like a science project but it is almost more interesting and informative. This picture captures life in Italy that I could not have planed to set up better if I’d have tried. If life is full of extremes here is a few to think about.

We got the fascinating old buildings in the background, and the modern new bikes in the front, a girl whose bike seems a bit big, and a kid in a buggy that is clearly too small. Everyone walking on the street and the sidewalk almost empty, and yes, just for good measure someone parked a car in the middle of the road, the cops parked nicely on the side but also not present, (maybe having pasta together) while the ladies look on with contempt at his parking job, they overlook the fact that they’re walking on the road with a pram! Me like the old man can only watch and wonder, except I think I got a better view from the curb.
